‘Let Bartlet be Bartlet’

So it gets pretty hot performing Opposition – especially at the Bike Shed Theatre in Exeter!

I’m going to have to take off my jacket…

The West Wing. Episode 1.12 — “What Kind Of Day Has It Been”

Jed Bartlet:

There was some debate amongst my staff earlier today as to whether or not I should take off my jacket. Some thought that it would fit in nicely with the folksy atmosphere of a town meeting, others thought that it wouldn’t be presidential. Can I trust you all to read nothing more into it other than I’ve been talking for two hours and it’s a little hot under these lights?

(The audience laugh as Bartlet takes off his jacket)

Original Airdate: May 17, 2000, 9:00 PM EST – The West Wing and all its characters are properties of Aaron Sorkin, John Wells Production, Warner Brothers Television, and NBC.

Ed Miliband apparently having a Bartlet moment.

So I’ll be quoting Bartlet at that stage in the show – before moving on to Bush, Reagan, Wallace and Obama.
